A special election is being held this May — and we have a rare opportunity to elect a progressive champion! That's why we're getting out the vote for Rob Quist to be elected to the U.S. Congress from Montana.
Why it matters: This seat came open when the current administration chose Rep. Ryan Zinke to head the Department of the Interior. This created an opening for a true champion of the working class to be elected in his place.
What Rob Quist would bring to the U.S. House of Representatives: Rob supported Bernie Sanders during the 2016 primary, and is carrying those shared values forward in his campaign. Rob supports a single-payer, Medicare for All system of healthcare, and believes that Social Security and Medicare are not “entitlements" but necessities that Montanans have paid into their entire lives. He believes in an America that works for all of its people, which upholds principles of tribal sovereignty and does not ban people based on their religion. He does not believe the U.S. should be involved in regime change, but knows that we need to support our veterans with top-quality health-care and job training.
Rob Quist is a steadfast defender of Montana's people and its resources. He believes that public lands should not be sold off to the highest bidder, but preserved for future generations; and he supports development of renewable energy infrastructure, as well as new, sustainable logging practices to protect our forests and preserve jobs. In his own words, he stands, with “Montanans who have spent their lives becoming resourceful to survive in a system that has, in many ways, become geared against them.”
